Betahaus: How Europe's Largest Coworking Space Tamed Printing Costs and Chaos for 600 Daily Guests

Betahaus hosts 400 to 600 guests daily across Europe's largest coworking space, and printing was both a technical mess and a cost spiral. ezeep eliminated driver chaos for hundreds of users and replaced a week of monthly manual billing with automatic usage tracking.

600 People a Day, Zero Printer Drivers, and Costs Under Control

Hosting 400 to 600 guests every day across multiple international locations creates operational challenges that most coworking spaces never have to think about. Printing was two of them: the technical chaos of hundreds of people trying to install drivers and find printers, and the financial chaos of printing costs spiraling out of control when usage was not tracked.

The Challenge

Printing at Betahaus was a two-part problem. First, there was the technical chaos: hundreds of people trying to install printer drivers, fill in IP numbers, and figure out the network. Co-Founder Christoph Fahle describes it bluntly: "It's an absolute mess."

Second, there was the cost problem. When printing was free, some coworkers took full advantage, printing thousands of pages, running up costs that became unsustainable for the space. Betahaus tried setting up a manual system for tracking and charging for printing. It consumed a full week of administrative work every single month.

"While Betahaus wishes we could offer free printing to coworkers and guests, it turns out that if printing is free, people might print off one thousand fliers for their punk band," says Fahle. "The costs were getting insanely high. We tried setting up an ad hoc system for tracking and charging for printing, and it took literally a week of work every single month."

"ezeep is a straightforward solution. I don't understand why every printer doesn't come with a service like this built in."

The Solution

ezeep replaced both the technical chaos and the manual billing. Members print without installing drivers or configuring anything. Usage is tracked and charged automatically. The week of monthly administrative work disappeared.

The Outcome

Hundreds of daily guests print without driver installations or network troubleshooting. Costs are tracked and billed without manual effort. The administrative burden that previously consumed a week per month has been eliminated.

Why It Matters

Betahaus operates at a scale most coworking spaces will never reach: 400-600 guests per day across multiple international locations. If ezeep can handle print management at that volume without creating administrative overhead, it works for any coworking space. The combination of driver-free printing and automatic cost tracking is the core value proposition for operators who need to offer printing as a service without it becoming a full-time job to manage.
