Why It Exists

Why One-Size-Fits-All Print Settings Don't Work

Different teams need different printing capabilities. Without group-level control, it's all or nothing.

AD Group Policy Only Covers Windows

Active Directory GPOs control settings for domain-joined Windows devices. Mac, Chromebook, iOS, and Android users get no managed policies at all. Remote and hybrid workers outside the domain are unmanaged by default.

How It Works

How ezeep Policies Work

Create groups, toggle capabilities, and let the cloud handle the rest. No client-side changes needed.

Sync Your Users

Define user groups in the ezeep admin portal, or sync them from Azure AD (Entra ID). Groups can reflect departments, roles, locations, or any structure that fits your organization.

Toggle Capabilities Per Group

Users Get the Right Experience Automatically

No client-side changes. No reboot. Users in each group see only the capabilities you enabled. Change a toggle, and it applies immediately.

What You Can Control

Each policy is a toggle in the ezeep admin portal. Enable it, assign it to groups, and it applies immediately.

Pull Printing

Keep confidential documents in the cloud until the user authenticates at a printer via QR code or RFID/NFC card. Nothing prints until the right person is standing at the device. Available on Business and Enterprise plans.

Printer Selection in User Portal

Let users pick their own printers from the ezeep User Portal, choosing from printers already assigned to their group. Fewer tickets for IT, more flexibility for users, and no unrestricted access.

Local Printer Support

Let users redirect local printers like home office or USB-connected devices into virtual desktop sessions. IT controls which groups get access, keeping VDI environments secure without cutting off local printing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Curious about how it all works? Here's everything you wanted to know about ezeep's cloud printing solution!

What are Group Policies in ezeep?

Group Policies are per-group capability toggles in the ezeep admin portal. Admins enable or disable specific printing capabilities (Pull Printing, local printer access, self-service printer selection) for each user group. Changes apply immediately with no client-side configuration, no reboot, and no refresh cycle. Users in each group see only the capabilities their admin has enabled.

How are ezeep Policies different from Active Directory Group Policy Objects?

AD GPOs control printer deployment and system-level settings for domain-joined Windows machines. ezeep Policies control which printing capabilities each user group has access to, across any OS, from a cloud-based admin panel. No OU hierarchy, no gpupdate cycles, no Windows dependency. ezeep Policies work the same way whether users are on Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, or Android.

Do Group Policies control print settings like color or duplex?

No. Group Policies control which capabilities are available (Pull Printing, local printer access, self-service selection). For controlling default print settings like color, duplex, paper size, and tray selection, use Printer Profiles. The two features complement each other: Policies define what users can do, Profiles define how their jobs print.

Can different groups have different policies enabled at the same time?

Yes. Each policy can be toggled independently per group. One group can have Pull Printing enabled for confidential documents while another has only local printer access for warehouse label printers. This per-group flexibility is the core purpose of the feature.

Which ezeep plans include Group Policies?

The Policies panel is available on all plans. Specific policies have their own plan requirements: Pull Printing requires Business or Enterprise, while Local Printer Support and Printer Selection in User Portal are available on all plans. Groups can be created manually or synced from Microsoft Entra ID on Business and Enterprise plans.
