Introducing Groups for User Management

Managing users effectively is key to a smooth IT infrastructure. Groups, a new feature in ezeep, helps you manage who can print what by focusing on people instead of individual printers. This shift aligns more closely with how IT professionals think about organizing printing setups, making administration much simpler.

Here's more detailed information about what's changed:

Add multiple printers to one Group

Create a single group with access to multiple printers. Printing permissions apply to all members of that group, regardless of which printer they use. For example, if you set a limit on color printing, it will apply across all those printers for everyone in the group.

Name your Groups

Give each of your groups a clear name like Members, Staff, or Students. This makes it much easier to identify and edit them when you or your team need to make changes. You can simply click on a group's name to rename it.

Add multiple emails in one step

Speed up group creation by simply copying and pasting comma-separated emails into the system.

A new way to share printers

If you use Active Directory or LDAP, you can now connect your directories to ezeep and easily share with your existing user groups. With ezeep's AD / LDAP sync tool, your user groups will be continuously synchronized without any manual effort. To try this feature, reach out to us so we can assist with setting up the synchronization.

Your existing groups are still there

In the previous interface, groups were tied to individual printers. These groups have been migrated to the new interface, identified by the printer's name in brackets. No action is required; people can continue to print as usual.

It only takes a moment to clean up and remove unnecessary duplicate groups. Open one of your groups, navigate to the Printers tab, and add more printers to it. Then, simply delete any other groups you no longer need.
